Back volumes of Doherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approaches.

The author has selected two premier official websites for the distribution of Doherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approaches. They are SurClaro and AVSIM. A number of other smaller websites have asked for my permission to distribute DDDA's and I have gladly granted it, on the condition that they present DDDA professionally.

Now also available at: www.wspilots.com - which is a new website. Look under the 'Partner Designs'section for a complete and up to date collection of DDDA.

WWW.FSimCafe.com - which is also a new website is releasing DDDA volumes at a slower pace than other websites to try to encourage users to revisit the website more frequently. At the moment they have released aproximately the first 50 volumes of DDDA. Both of these new websites are well worth a visit. They are very professionally managed and very well maintained. Check them out.

DDDA has grown considerable during the last year and many people have asked me for a list or catalogue of Doherty's Difficult & Dangerous Approaches. To my very great surprise Bernard Rausch arrived on the scene and told me he had developed a program that automatically creates a list and was looking forward to posting it on the web as freeware.

I fully endorse Bernard Rausch's Flight Index Generator. Not only does it create a list of all DDDA volumes but it also creates a list of all other files that reside in your 'Flights' directory. It's a really wonderful tool to have in your arsenal, so download it and pop it in your flight bag. However,The Flight Index Generator requires you to have Microsoft Excel installed on your computer - it won't work without it!

Not all flightsimmers have Microsoft Excel so Bernard has kindly volunteered to update the DDDA series every so often in text file format which does not require Microsoft Excel to run it. Currently an index list of 61 volumes of DDDA is available for download.

These downloads are freely available at AVSIM and SurClaro.

The Flight Index Generator (needs Microsoft Excel installed on your computer):

fltidx.zip

The DDDA list or catalogue (does not require Microsoft Excel installed on your computer):

dddaix61.zip

Don't forget to use the (.zip) in your search or you'll come up empty.

The best way to find and download DDDA is to enter the volume number that you are looking for in the library search engine. The same file description applies to both websites. So if you want volume 9 of DDDA enter: 'dddav09.zip,' or volume 19 enter: 'dddav19.zip,' or volume 41 enter: 'dddav41.zip,' etc. You MUST include the (.zip) in your search string or your request will be denied.

Otherwise, enter your search as Doherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approaches. The category comes under 'Miscellaneous'and the flight simulator MSFS 2004.If you do your search by this method a list of the entire series will be shown and you can select the ones you want to download.

Alternatively you can search 'Michael Doherty' and you'll also get a full list of DDDA volumes.

All volumes of DDDA are currently available in the library archives of SurClaro and AVSIM. If you've just downloaded your very first volume of DDDA and enjoyed it, why not download the earlier volumes to complete your collection? Don't think for one moment that the earlier volumes are now 'old hat.' They definitely are not! Airport approaches are virtually timeless - the approaches you fly today will more than likely be the same approaches you'd fly in fifty years time, plus or minus a few airport and procedural modifications.

Remember, DDDA's are very small downloads and you can download a whole bunch in practically no time at all. And they don't take up much space on your hard drive either.

If you have any difficulties downloading DDDA contact the library staff, they are always very friendly and obliging.
